Build your career while you learn how to support and expand the work UCLA’s Government and Community Relations (GCR) team does to build relationships with constituent groups, assist community leaders in gaining access to UCLA's resources, and coordinate the campus’ response to a wide range of political and policy issues. As GCR’s Administrative Assistant, you will bring your eagerness to join our advocacy efforts, organizational skills, keen level of attention to detail and ability to manage a multitude of projects to a role where you can learn about how we promote UCLA’s mission to policy makers and coordinate efforts at the community, local, state, federal and national levels. Our team is driven, dedicated and highly engaged in how we can work with these constituents to generate support for UCLA’s interests and advise administrators and faculty on strategies to facilitate constructive dialogue with public-sector leaders.   • Prior experience working in a government or community relations office, a government agency or government/advocacy related environment. (Preferred)

  • Experience in managing social media outlets such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. (Preferred)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Required)

  • Ability to learn and deliver customer service skills such as interacting in a friendly, professional manner and responding quickly and appropriately to requests. (Required)

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion. (Required)

  • Proficiency with business software such as Google docs, Google forms, Word, Excel, Outlook and databases. (Required)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships. (Required)

  • Ability to work as part of a team, be detail oriented, organized and meet deadlines. (Required)

  • Must be able to maintain a reliable and predictable work schedule including ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. (Required)

  • Ability to research, gather, analyze and synthesize information from sources such as online searches, databases and files. (Required)

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, take initiative, be resourceful and make decisions. (Required)

  • Knowledge of University administration, budget, and financial systems, policies and procedures, and campus/university organizations is preferred. (Preferred)
