Position Summary Information


General Information
The College of Business at James Madison University seeks to hire three part-time administrative professionals to provide support to full-time administrative professionals, faculty, and academic programs. These positions will work approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year, and are not anticipated to work during summers. Hours are flexible between 8am and 5pm. Part time administrative professionals will work together to ensure core business hours, defined as 9am – 3pm, Monday through Friday are covered.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will help manage the administrative office for the Academic Unit Heads as well as full- and part-time faculty within the College of Business.
Duties include, but are not limited to, training and supervising graduate and undergraduate student employees, preparation of mass examinations, maintenance of course files, providing assistance with hiring new faculty, creating enrollment queries and other reports as needed. The successful candidates will manage class entry and course registrations for both departments and provide accurate reporting of Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) database material. Additional duties include the preparation of state and foundation travel authorizations and travel reimbursements and general correspondence. Some event planning will be required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Professional demeanor, confidentiality and excellent customer service skills are essential
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work fluidly in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office processes are essential, particularly Excel

Additional Considerations:
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft (Student Administration)
  • Experience with creating and interpreting queries
  • Experience with event planning for departmental/board events

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
