Job Summary
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI: Oanh Meyer, PhD) and the Clinical Research Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for daily study activities and will assists with 4 or more research studies, acting as a liaison between the PI, research supervisor, study personnel, and research participant in the studies. This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of Dr. Meyer's studies in the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) and for research database creation and maintenance that support clinical research staff, research supervisor and the PI in carrying out the research mission of the various clinical research studies. The position is also responsible for creating and approving flyers for the research studies, brochures, and promotional materials for events. This position will provide administrative support, including purchasing and submitting reimbursements for research studies, compiling and preparing data and information for meetings, and weekly reporting to the IRB and leadership team.
The incumbent successfully plans, manages, promotes, and executes internal and external events for the research studies. The incumbent provides event design and regular reports to the PI and Clinical Research Supervisor. The incumbent determines vendors best suited to meet the requirements of events and facilitates the scheduling of event space and completes purchasing for event related items. The incumbent provides mentorship to volunteers, students, less experienced event staff, and community partners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • For full consideration applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
  • CITI Program Certification for Social Behavioral Researchers and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) within 1 month of hire
  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • 1 year experience in customer service to effectively interact with and assist diverse groups of people of varying ages and cultural backgrounds.
  • 1 year experience working in a clinical research setting
  • Experience using computers and software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, email) to produce documents with speed and accuracy.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining multiple projects and large volumes of data. Independently assess and organize workload priorities in an appropriate way to accomplish a task or goal.
  • Experience planning and managing complex events involving guests from multiple sources such as other public institutions, research institutions, private sector interests, and alumni.
  • Advanced computer literacy including proficiency with the following programs: Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office
  • Possess written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely share information, explanations and instructions to, and to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand, including individuals who may not speak English.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical guidelines, including the maintenance of confidentiality and privacy of information. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters, and to exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Vietnamese and English
  • Ability to independently determine appropriate UCD/UCDH procedures and selection of methods for implementation of UCD/UCDH policy.
  • Perform assignments independently for which administrative guides are inadequate or which require specific working knowledge of the Institute, Clinic and University.
  • Knowledge of ADRC Administration, Research and Clinic, UCD/UCDH and School of Medicine goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of UCD/UCDH graphic and publication standards
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures relating to the use of university facilities, event management and presentation, including crowd management and safety protocols.
  • Experience using RedCap or similar database
  • Experience with working with human subjects research projects and the UCDH Institutional Review Board.

The Department of Neurology is a clinical, research and academic department within the UC Davis School of Medicine. The mission of the department is dedicated to the identification, care, and education of individuals with neurological disorders and is committed to discovering new knowledge in the areas of teaching, research and clinical activities.
