Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 2, Office of Minority Education (OME), to provide administrative support to the associate dean/director and manage the daily administrative functions of the OME. Will manage the calendar of the associate dean/director by scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel; plan and coordinate large meetings and major events, take minutes at meetings, and produce reports; provide advanced-level administrative support for OME programs, services, and projects; function as a high-level individual contributor and coordinator of projects; develop in-depth knowledge of OME programs and services in order to respond to student and outside inquiries; work with the associate dean/director on the administration of programs supported by the OME Student Advisory Council (OMESAC), the Industrial Advisory Council for Minority Education (IACME), and the OME Faculty Advisory Committee (OMEFAC); develop in-depth knowledge of MIT and other departments in order to manage the office's administrative operations; independently handle office administrative duties, including purchasing, reconciling accounts, and computer system needs; supervise student help; and work as part of a team on a wide range of OME programs/projects/special initiatives/events.


Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; three years' administrative, office, or related experience; strong interpersonal skills and ease with both telephone and in-person contact; strong organizational and time-management skills; facility with written communication, including preparation of minutes and short documents; initiative; ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; and proficiency with Microsoft Office and performing word processing, database, and accounting functions, including some troubleshooting and system updating. PREFERRED: bachelor's degree; MIT experience and knowledge of SAP, Buy2Pay, Concur, and its other accounting and purchasing systems; and experience in a higher education setting. Job #23578-5
Hiring range: $26.00 - 31.00 hour
A hybrid schedule, with both remote and on-campus work, is available. May be required to work occasional evening, early morning, and/or weekend hours in support of OME programs, activities, and events.
