Job Description


The Administrative and Fiscal Assistant for Student Success Initiatives provides administrative and budgetary support to the Associate Vice Provost and the unit which includes, the Student Success Center (SSC), Office of Veterans Services (OVS) and Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program (MAOP).

The essential duties to the operation of the unit include administrative, fiscal and business functions including ability to address complex issues; independently respond to requests for information or materials by phone, electronically or in person; preparing and processing purchasing, accounting, travel, payroll and human resources forms in BANNER database; knowledge of university and state policies and procedures; oversee fixed assets and key records; coordinate the maintenance of hardware with Provost's Office IT staff; maintain accurate, timely expense reports including prepare monthly reconciliation of budget reports for the Assistant Provost for Student Success Initiatives; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; serve as Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) coordinator; complete special projects; other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Experience providing administrative support in an academic or professional office setting. Demonstrated proficiency with standard fiscal budgeting, bookkeeping and accounting. Demonstrated experience with computer applications i.e., calendar management, spreadsheets, and word processing. Evidence of strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Evidence of ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity. Ability to maintain confidentiality.


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience with university fiscal procedures. Proficiency with BANNER and HokieMart. Experience working with travel arrangements and reimbursement.| Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating logistics. Associate Degree in related field or equivalent training and/or experience.


Salary Information

40,000-42,000
