Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Financial Affairs manages the financial and budgetary aspects of the School. ASOD Finance has the overall responsibility for developing, planning, monitoring, and managing the personnel, non-personnel, and operating budgets of the Adams School of Dentistry.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean of Finance, and for the operations of the Financial Affairs Office. The position acts as the School Access Request Coordinator and Time Trex Administrator, communicates public announcements on behalf of the Financial Affairs Office regarding State, University and School financial policies and procedures to various internal and external audiences, manages team schedules and meeting arrangements, sending meeting notes/follow-ups, oversees office budget and expenditures, assists with accounting function, serves as backup financial and HR approver, and provides guidance and support for various projects and reporting responsibilities as needed. This position is the point of contact for the Assistant Dean of Finance and must always represent the School’s interest.
This position should be able to perform a variety of business, fiscal, and administrative functions to address the business needs of Financial Affairs department. This position should operate independently, with great attention to accuracy and detail in all matters of the Office of Financial Affairs and the School.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, be able to interact with individuals and groups promoting leadership, confidence, and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of administrative experience is preferred. Experience in a Higher Education environment and Peoplesoft systems is a plus. Experience with finance and budgeting is a plus.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
This position must be able to work on-site. Office environment may require lifting files or items up to 10 lbs. May be required to travel between buildings on campus or to a building off campus on occasion.
