Job Summary

The Administrative Analyst uses advanced administrative concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex
issues. Manages, plans, administers, and coordinates the administrative operations of a large department
(90 FTEs), the operations of which are significantly complex and/or broad in scope. This individual reports
to the Chief Quality Officer and VP for Quality & Safety. Performance of administrative operations activities
are the predominant focus of the position; may supervise support staff or a small number of professional staff
within or outside the scope of main business activities (e.g., student services, facilities, etc.). Performs short
and long-term planning for the function. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of
situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors in parallel with other team members and DoQS leaders.


Department Description

The Department of Quality & Safety is responsible for organizing, supporting, and assessing the overall strategies to ensure high quality, safe, and patient-centered care. The Department of Quality has collaborative partnerships internally and with outside organizations to foster structures, processes, and systems that allow UCSF Health to evaluate and improve the care it provides. This includes the processes to measure and evaluate ongoing safe, quality care. The Department of Quality & Safety is made up of the following divisions: Adult Quality Improvement, Analytics & Clinical Effectiveness, BCH Quality Improvement, Clinical Documentation Integrity, Health Equity, Hospital Epidemiology & Infection Control, and Patient Safety.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related area or 2-4 years applicable work experience or a combination of education and experience.
Two (2) to three (3) years of working in a health care environment with proficiency in administrative and analytic support.
High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat document development, and Visio.
Knowledge of Excel (Access) software program.  Ability to run analytical (excel and other) reports and summarize information.
This position requires the flexibility to orient and work in all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Comfortable with technology and computer applications.
Ability to interact with all levels of staff and ability to set priorities and manage multiple demands effectively.
Ability to exercise professional judgment in handling sensitive and confidential issues with discretion.
Able to prioritize work and escalate concerns to the Chief Quality Officer and VP for Quality & Safety.
Excellent analytical and independent problem-solving skills in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, and ability to work with others to coordinate multiple projects; ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
Ability to function independently and within a team with minimal supervision, demonstrating excellent judgment, and attention to process and detail.
Able to work in a high-stress environment with individuals of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
