Position Summary

The Facilities Department in the University of New Mexico College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (CULLS) seeks a motivated and highly-engaged student employee interested in a challenging and dynamic working environment. Under direct supervision, the Library Assistant will work with University Libraries staff and student employees in a team environment to:

  • Learn and apply library and campus policies and procedures
  • Assists in carrying out various activities related to such areas as shipping and receiving and materials handling as appropriate to the position.
  • Performs various office support as assigned, may act as courier for the delivery and pickup of library materials between various library units.
  • Assists in maintaining cleanliness of facilities
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Successful applicants will have the opportunity for progressively independent work and increased responsibility within a collegial team environment. CULLS student employees are employed on a term basis for the current academic year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently enrolled at UNM for a minimum of 6 credit hours during the normal school year.

• Ability to make independent decisions and judgements on routine procedural issues

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

• Demonstrated ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively.
