About the Department
ASSIST is focused on development of ultra-low power, wearable electronics to correlate personal health and personal environmental exposure. The multi-university effort conducts nanotechnology research in energy harvesting, ULP electronics, sensors and radios and textiles-based wearable integration with the ultimate goal to positively impact global health.
Our Vision
We envision a paradigm shift in health informatics enabled by wearable nanotechnologies that monitor individual health parameters and environmental exposures. Long-term sensing will enable patients, doctors, and scientists to make direct correlations between health and environmental toxins leading to chronic disease prediction, management, and treatment. ASSIST advances will accelerate environmental health research and clinical trials as well as inform environmental policy.

Essential Job Duties
The Center hosts and number of virtual and in-person events every year. As the Admin. and Event Coordinator you will manage all aspects of event organization including but not limited to: venue, transportation, catering, posters, supplies, hotel, event registration, AV/IT support, parking, name tags, shipping of materials, marketing and website for events, post-event collection of presentations to link to the web, set-up signs/posters, on-site logistics coordination, virtual event platform management, etc. You will be responsible for working within budgetary guidelines provided by the Center as well as maintaining thorough documentation/analysis of each event. Center hosts a number of virtual and in-person events every year.

  • Scientific/Medical/Military advisory board meetings
  • Annual Leadership Team Retreat
  • Annual Site visit coordination and logistics
  • NC State Engineering Career Fair and Open Houses
  • Annual SLC Welcome Back Bash
  • ASSIST Seminar Series support
  • Trade Shows and Conferences
  • Other major ASSIST sponsored events
    • Summer camps for K-12 students
    • For-profit, industry-facing short courses
    • Supporting ad-hoc industry recruiting and retention events

In this role you will also be responsible for providing communications support by implementing the Center’s communication strategy as well as providing regular reports analyzing the impact, success, and suggested improvement of this strategy.
Day to day duties include:
  • Maintain and regularly update center contact lists (Google Groups, Mailchimp, website)
  • IT support/Computer/AV setup for Center meetings including monthly center updates, seminars, external visitors
  • Maintain IConS/ASSIST calendars

Furthermore you will provide administrative support to the program by:
  • Providing office-based administrative and meeting support to include center/institute-wide Updates, Quarterly Project Review, Leadership Meetings, and seminars as needed.
  • Onboarding new center/institute students, staff, and faculty
  • Monitor the center/institute’s email account, follow up on “Contact Us” requests.
  • Support front office-related inquiries, phone calls, and greet visitors.
  • Order supplies and equipment for the center’s/institute’s research and day-to-day operational projects.
  • Provides technical support for IConS/ASSIST website including, user accounts, forms, calendars, etc.
  • Maintains documentation on Google Drive.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
  • Excellent written, verbal, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities in a dynamic and face-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Google applications (such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc).
  • High level of computer competency with spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Independently able to support the functions of the center with/without the Director.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Event planning experience.
  • Communications experience.
  • Prior experience in a university setting (full or part-time).
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience with MS Word and Excel, Google Drive and Calendar.
  • Experience with website management.
