Adjunct – Veterinary Technology Program (Large Animal)

Job Summary

The ideal candidate has the primary responsibility of instruction in the classroom, clinical sites and laboratory settings for either of both:
VETT 1193 Principles of Large Animal Nursing to begin Fall 2024.
VETT 2364 Large Animal Nursing to begin Spring 2025. 
This is a Safety Sensitive position pursuant to Oklahoma Statute OKLA. STAT. tit. 63, § 427.8 (2020).

Essential Duties

Large Animal medicine and surgery, lecture and laboratory.

Course covers internal medicine nursing of all body systems, and dental care.

Planning, developing, implementing and evaluating curriculum common to large animal veterinary nursing.

Assist management of in-house large animal patients, field trips, and other experiential opportunities for student learning.

Participate with Program accreditation and regulatory requirements.


Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine required, from an AVMA-accredited institution.

Hold a valid, unencumbered license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of Oklahoma.

Hold a valid, unencumbered registration from DEA and OBN (Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics).

Evidence of current practice with a minimum of three years full-time equivalent as a veterinarian in a clinical setting preceding employment as a teacher.

Philosophy compatible with that of a comprehensive urban community college.


Preferred Qualifications

Large animal experience, to include medical and surgical care of horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, other.

USDA accredited veterinarian (Level 1 & 2).

Member of AVMA and OVMA.

Teaching experience at the community college or university level.
