All About You


SLU CAM Director Responsibilities:

Successful management of the Center will be accomplished by working closely with the SLU CAM leadership team, the Research Institute, the School of Science and Engineering and local/regional companies. Therefore, strong interpersonal communication skills are also very important. This individual is expected to dedicate 50% time during the work week to the SLU CAM facility as the center’s Director. This includes, but is not limited to, the following critical aspects of the position:

  • Oversee full-time lead engineer and student workers in the facility
  • Communicate with internal and external customers
  • Work as a liaison between the facility and customers
  • Participate in the ideation, development, and design of potential customer projects
  • Provide outreach and education on additive manufacturing, product design and development
  • Participate in weekly Leadership Team planning meeting
  • Interface with stakeholders and advisory board members
  • Develop and execute strategies for Center growth (primarily through external customers) and further integration into the SSE maker framework.
  • Develop and deliver educational opportunities within the SSE and the broader University community as well as targeted educational opportunities for industry partners.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 20 years industry experience
  • At least 10 years experience working with additive manufacturing in a commercial environment
  • At least 5 years experience in project management
  • Engineering personnel management experience
