Job Summary:

The Summer Pre-College program is looking for an adjunct faculty to teach a Materials Science/Materials Engineering course, as part of the University’s Summer Pre-College Program for High School Students. This course aims to introduce students to the basic foundational concepts of Material Science and the career avenues available in the fields of Material Science and Materials Engineering. This course explores the material structures and applications of various commonly-used materials such as metal alloys, ceramics and composites, while also introducing students to cutting-edge materials such as silicon wafers and nanomaterials. The course also enables students to use their knowledge of material properties to solve real-world design problems.

The course will be offered in a fully-online format.

Dates: July 5 to July 15, 2021 (Mon-Thurs)
Time: 1:30 PM to 5 PM

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering or related discipline.
• Hands-on experience working with different material structures in an applied setting.

Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing complex materials in a research or production environment.
• Experience teaching college-level courses
