The University of San Francisco (USF) Engineering Department is looking for an instructor for CHEM 151: General Chemistry II for Engineers and Environmental Scientists for the Spring 2024 semester.

Full Job Description:

The University of San Francisco Engineering Department is looking for an instructor for the Fall 2023 semester for CHEM 151: General Chemistry II for Engineers and Environmental Scientists. The engineering program at USF is a student focused, hands-on program immersed in a Jesuit liberal arts education. This chemistry course builds on CHEM 150: General Chemistry I for Engineers and Environmental Scientists and focuses on the chemistry of natural and engineered environmental systems. Topics covered include acid-base chemistry, redox chemistry, air-water partitioning, chemistry of organic pollutants and soil chemistry. Students will also engage in designing and executing laboratory experiments that reinforce modern chemistry concepts introduced in lecture.

The class is 4 units or credits, meeting three times per week for 65 minutes each. In addition, the instructor will need to hold office hours. Preferred qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree or PhD in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry or related field.

  • Experience teaching undergraduates.
