Job Summary:

The Department of Chemistry (https://www.usfca.edu/) is seeking part-time faculty to teach lower-division laboratories and lectures. Applications for this pool are accepted continuously, and candidates will be contacted when a position becomes available. Based on their length of service, part-time faculty can become eligible for benefits such as health insurance, retirement contributions, and tuition remission. For Spring and Summer 2024, compensation is $2101 per unit.

• CHEM 232 Organic Chemistry I Lab (2 units)
• CHEM 234 Organic Chemistry II Lab (2 units)

Lecturer Positions

• CHEM 111 General Chemistry I (4 units)
• CHEM 113 General Chemistry II (4 units)

• CHEM 230 Organic Chemistry I (4 units)
• CHEM 231 Organic Chemistry II (4 units)

Qualifications:

For lecturer positions, applicants with PhDs and/or teaching experience will be given preference. For lab instructor positions, graduate students and candidates with PhDs in relevant disciplines will be considered.

Job Responsibilities: 

Duties for lab instructors include attending weekly lab instructor meetings, delivering short pre-lab lectures, supervising students during experiments, and grading assignments. Lab instructors also hold remote office hours.

Lecturers will be responsible for the entire class on their own. The course learning outcomes have been set by the Chemistry Department and these must be addressed in the course content. The lecturer has flexibility in how the content is delivered and how student learning is evaluated. The course textbook has been already selected, and prior syllabi and other resources are available for use.
