The Division of Languages and Literatures and the Middle Eastern Studies (MES) program at Bard College seeks applicants for a 1-year part-time visiting position teaching Arabic language, literature, and culture (at the rank of either assistant professor or lecturer level).

We are looking for a recent PhD or ABD in Arabic literature and culture from any period to contribute to a dynamic and growing MES program. The successful candidate will have native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English, and experience teaching Arabic, preferably in both formal and colloquial registers, across all levels.

We welcome applications from candidates with a research focus on Arabic Linguistics, Classical or Modern Arabic poetry; comparative Arabic-Hebrew, Arabic-Urdu, or Arabic-Turkish training; Arabic storytelling and folklore.

The position involves teaching one Arabic-language course each semester, with the possibility of adding more courses in the Spring Semester.

Compensation: $23,333
This salary reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting.
