Description

 

The Department of Arts and Communication at the University of Houston-Downtown seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach lower and/or upper level Music History and Music Appreciation classes. The candidate will be responsible for teaching a 75-minute lecture course as needed. Scheduling is flexible. Experience teaching African American Music, History of Hispanic Music, and Music in American Christianity is especially valuable. 

The candidate must plan and create course syllabi, lecture, and provide quality instruction and guidance, follow established institutional guidelines, evaluate student performance, maintain a positive educational environment in the classroom, etc.

Qualifications

 
Applicants must have earned at least a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and must have earned at least 18 graduate-level semester hours in Music or other closely related field. 
 
A Ph.D. is preferred. Candidates must have college teaching experience. Candidates must be willing to teach throughout the day, including evening, as well as online. Candidates from traditionally under-represented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
