Summary

Adjunct Theatre professor to teach one or more of the following courses:

 TH 105 Introduction to Technical Theatre: A survey class examining the various technical and artistic facets of a live theatrical production.

TH-111: Beginning technical theatre lab with focus on backstage operations and crew assignments. Emphasis on practical application in production.

TH-211: Intermediate technical theatre lab with focus on backstage operations and leadership assignments. Emphasis on practical application in production

TH-311: Advanced technical theatre lab with focus on backstage operations and leadership assignments. Emphasis on practical application in production Prerequisites: TH 211.

TH-392 SCENE DESIGN: Theory of designing stage sets. Study of drafting and renderings needed to execute a design. Emphasis upon portfolio enhancement, theoretical projects and production work. Prerequisites: TH 105. Theatre Majors/Minors only.

TH-391 LIGHTING DESIGN: Design theories and techniques, drafting and related paperwork for theatre and dance lighting, with emphasis on practical application in the form of light plots and production work.

Applicant must be knowledgeable and experienced in the design, technical, and production process that brings a fully realized, professional set to the stage. This will include an introductory study of scene design, costume design, stage lighting and sound design, equipment, practices, theories, and practical application.

The applicant must hold an MFA and have experience with technical aspects of a theatre production. The applicant will be teaching in person but understands that they might be asked to also teach this course remotely if necessary.


Essential Functions

  • Deliver classroom material in a clear and effective manner.

  • Create a unified comprehensive syllabus.

  • Create, administer and evaluate exams, papers and/or projects.

  • One office hour per week required to help and address student questions and/or issues.

  • Check here if this position regularly receives work assignments directly from others, in addition to the supervisor / manager, and list those position titles: Assistant, Associate and Full Photography Professors.

  • Not responsible for supervising others.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Master's degree is required: MFA Theatre.

  • 1-3 years of work related experience is required.

  • Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.

  • Create a unified, comprehensive syllabus with major topics, quizzes, due dates and exams etc.

  • Ability to deliver classroom material, (lecture, discussion, small group study etc.) in a clear and effective manor in a way that students are able to grasp and comprehend.

    Ability to create, administer and evaluate exams, papers and/or projects.

  • Decisions generally affect own position or specific functional area.
