Adjunct Lecturer of Communication-Data Science for Communication & Social Networks

The M.S. in Communication Data Science program, offered jointly by the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and the Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California seeks a qualified Adjunct Lecturer to supplement instruction offered by our full-time faculty, specifically to teach COMM 557- Data Science for Communication & Social Networks during the Fall 2024 semester. This course teaches students to acquire, process, analyze and visualize data related to social networks and media activity, users and their behaviors, trends and information spreading. Topics include social link analysis, opinion mining, and smart recommender systems. The language of instruction is Python. Candidates must have significant experience in data science, communication and/or a track record of relevant teaching experience.

Minimum Qualifications :

Minimum Education: A Master’s in Communication, Data Science, Business Management or related fields.

Minimum Experience:  10 years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications :
Preferred Education: A Master’s or Ph.D. in Communication, Data Science, Business Management, or related fields.

Preferred Experience: Teaching experience in communication, data science, new media, technology, and related fields. Demonstrated ability to coach and help students achieve their academic and professional goals. Work experience in related positions at technology or media companies.

The hourly range for this position is $$36.37 - $45.46. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
