The Communication Studies department at St. Catherine University invites applications for an Adjunct Lecturer for the 2024-25 Fall Semester. St. Catherine University employs Adjunct Faculty on a per-course basis, usually for no more than twelve credits per academic year. Service as an adjunct does not count toward promotion and tenure.
The undergraduate college at St. Catherine is one of only six US institutions that is both a women’s college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Kate’s is home to a diverse group of nearly 3,500 students in varying disciplines and degree levels.   • Introduction to Communication: Women and Social Change
  • Media, Culture and Society
  • Gender and Rhetoric
  • Public Relations Writing

Responsibilities:
  • Teach one or two classes on a semester basis in traditional or online environments.
  • Educate and support students in their classroom.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities.
  • Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students as an educator and a mentor.
  • Monitor and assess student-learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance.
  • Monitor curriculum content and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain relevance.
  • Consistent with the university’s Catholic identity, its commitment to women, diversity, inclusion, social justice, and dedication to a liberal arts-based curriculum, faculty are expected to manifest these themes in their teaching and practice experiences.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters in Communication Studies or related field
  • One (1) year of relevant teaching experience
  • Experience serving students from historically excluded communities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to individuals with evidence of successful college teaching effectiveness.
  • Three (3) years of relevant teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience working in a minority serving institution
