Job Title:  Adjunct Instructor, World Music

Required Degree: Master's degree in Music

 

Preferred Degree: Doctorate in musicology, ethnomusicology, or another music area with a strong emphasis on global music's.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

 

Experience:   Experience teaching undergraduate courses in non-Western music's, with expertise in one or more music cultures

 

Duties/Expectations

  • Teach an undergraduate general education course in world music with a balance of geographic breadth and specialized area study
  • Implement a curriculum fostering BYU's aims as well as BYU's learning outcomes for GE courses fulfilling Arts and Global and Cultural Awareness
  • Foster a classroom atmosphere of cross-cultural awareness, respect, and inclusion, taking advantage of the University's multicultural resources in coordination with the University's Office of Belonging
  • Use extensive hands-on and participatory classroom experiences
  • Emphasize is to overcome ethnocentricity and foster belonging through musical understanding.
