Position Summary
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking per diem adjunct faculty members at the rank of Clinical Instructor to work in the new Youth Behavioral Hospital (YBH) in Butner, NC. As part of a shared commitment to behavioral health and the well-being of children and families, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and UNC Health partnered to convert the R.J. Blackley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center in Butner, N.C., into a 54-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents with the purpose of providing services to families seeking specialized, inpatient behavioral health treatment.
Principal duties of the positions will include:
* Provide patient education about mental health disorders and available treatment options specific to this population. YBH will have 4 adolescent inpatient units with 1 of the 4 units treating mental health conditions within IDD population and the other 3 serving general young child, early adolescent, and adolescent mental health conditions requiring psychiatric hospitalization.
* Provide brief interventions using evidence-based techniques. Areas of specific clinical skills of interest include experiences in trauma therapies, systemic and family models of therapy.
* Strong engagement with social work principles and their application to complex problems required for initial assessment, case management, interdisciplinary collaborations, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants for the Clinical Instructor position must have a Master’s degree in Social Work or a relevant human services field. Candidates must be fully licensed. The following licenses will be considered: LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Preference working on an inpatient setting, and prior experience working with adolescents.
