Job Description

The Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a position at the rank of Adjunct Instructor of History within the Division of Social Sciences. The Division seeks candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching, professional development, and service to the University.  This appointment begins spring 2022. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate history courses, especially those required in the University Core Area.

  • Provide committee services to the division, the college and the university;

  • Engage in professional development activities, including serving in roles that advance the candidate’s standing with professional organizations and with the community at large.

  • Keep records, post grades (mid-term & final), submit attendance reporting, and mentor/advise students.

  • Attend University-sponsored activities, such as general student assembly, student recruitment fairs, graduation convocations, and the like.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by division head.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Master’s in History or a closely related  field from an accredited institution.

  • More than one year of experience teaching history courses at the college level.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Admissions functions of higher education.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to teach online courses, using the various modes of delivery that the university requires.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in History or a closely related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
