The Department of Computer Science at the University of South Dakota (USD) invites applications for part-time Adjunct faculty to teach a variety of courses, as available. Courses include those that serve the Master of Science degree and Artificial Intelligence Specialization, on topics such as high-performance computing, machine learning fundamentals, advanced artificial intelligence, computer network and security, or programing science. Instruction begins January 2023 and may take place online or on the USD main campus in Vermillion, SD. Because the classes are graduate coursework, a successful candidate must be approved to teach at the graduate level, which generally is contingent on an earned terminal degree in Computer Science or a related area, or equivalent professional experience in the field.
This position is not benefits-eligible and is compensated per course. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA. Please submit a CV and provide the names/contact of a professional reference.

Department Description and Cultural Expectations
The USD Computer Science Department is home to the first Artificial Intelligence (AI) programs at both the graduate and under graduate level in the state of South Dakota. The Department of Computer Science offers a stimulating intellectual environment and has an excellent reputation in research and teaching. Faculty members perform research in diverse sub-disciplines, including symbolic computation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, network security and computer science education. Computer Science faculty have access to the USD Research Computing Group, which includes 2100+ Core Supercomputer, 1900+ TB Storage Dedicated to Research, access to National Supercomputing Resources via XSEDE, and Grant Proposal Support – including Data Management Plans.
