The M.S. in Public Relations Innovation, Strategy and Management (MSPRISM) online program at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism seeks a qualified Adjunct Lecturer to teach the course PRSM 515 – Business and Economic Literacy for Communicators. This course covers fundamental business, finance and economics knowledge needed to better align the communication function with organizational goals and communicate effectively with key stakeholders. In this course, the Adjunct Lecturer will teach students how to:
· Evaluate basic macroeconomic and microeconomic topics.
· Consider the potential impact of changing economic conditions on an organization.
· Create effective economic or financial messaging for a target audience.
· Assess how corporations or startup companies are formed, capitalized or governed.
· Weigh ethical considerations when making business decisions or creating business messages.
Requirements for consideration include a B.A., B.S., M.S., or an M.A. degree in a related field. Previous teaching experience, particularly online teaching experience, is desirable. For some courses, outstanding professional experience may be substituted for academic credentials.
The hourly range for this position is $36.37 – $45.46. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
USC reserves the “Adjunct” appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC, who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
Applicants should send a letter describing their background, interests and areas of expertise, and an up-to-date resume or curriculum vitae through the Careers at USC website.
