This pool has been established to accept applications for possible openings that may arise throughout the academic year.  When a position is available, the dean (or designee) will review qualified applicants from this pool.  Should review of your qualifications result in a decision to interview, you will be contacted. 

As an adjunct instructor you will perform all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the BMCC Vision and Strategic Plan. Performs consistently with the team-based model and actively participates as a member of assigned college teams and committees. Conforms to the college's guiding principles.

Essential Functions

  • Teaches assigned courses and develop curriculum in accordance with course descriptions as outlined in a course syllabus and schedule requirements.
  • Orients students by distribution of course syllabi early in the quarter as to the objectives, measurable outcomes, purposes of the course, attendance requirements, nature of assignments or requirements and required texts.
  • Prepares and presents records and reports necessary for proper institutional management.
  • Follows the highest ethical standards of the teaching profession and promotes the best interests of the College.

Other Aspects of this Position

  • May be asked to maintain office hours and advise students.
  • Assignment(s) may include day and/or evening courses, weekdays and/or weekends, face-to-face and/or distance-delivered instruction.

Required Education and Experience

  • Professional-Technical: Bachelor's degree in field and /or certification by recognized national certifying organization and/or appropriate experience.
  • Lower Division Collegiate: A Master's Degree in discipline or Master's degree plus 20 graduate hours in the subject area applied for, and prior teaching experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computers, with skills in MS Word and Excel.
