Summary

Barry University, Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences is currently seeking instructors for undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology.  The Department has a strong commitment to high academic standards and a supportive and encouraging educational environment that emphasizes the student’s responsibility for learning and success.  Courses are taught face-to-face on the main campus in Miami Shores. Undergraduate courses include the following: Introductory Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Theories of Personality, Physiological Psychology, Tests and Measurements, Abnormal Psychology, and Forensic Psychology.  Graduate courses include Clinical Assessment (intellectual and personality) and the assessment focused Advanced Forensic Psychology.


Essential Functions

  • Undergraduate classes are taught Monday, Wednesday, Friday for 50 minutes or Tuesday and Thursday for 80 minutes.
  • Graduate courses are taught one night per week, except Friday nights, from 6 pm to 9 pm.
  • Attention to work-related detail, adherence to the department-approved syllabus, appropriate coverage of the course content, the provision of multiple assessments of student mastery of content, writing, and oral presentation.
  • Timely return of student assignments, submission of mid-term grades, final grades, and university-related assessments, timely response to student communications, and timely response to supervisor communications.


Qualifications/Requirements 

  • Minimum of an MS/MA degree in psychology from an accredited university required.
  • Some prior college-level teaching experience and and PhD and PsyD, preferred.
  • High levels of teaching skills, professionalism, interpersonal skills, and communication skills required.
