Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Worldwide Campus is currently hiring adjunct faculty to teach AENG 511 - Engineering Materials Selection online.

 

Course Description:

 

Introduction to mechanical behavior of common aerospace materials as it relates to structural performance. Methods for strengthening and toughening of metals ceramics and composites. Materials selection basics using functions, constraints, objectives. Ashby materials property charts. Materials selection with multiple constraints and conflicting objectives and shape factors. Designing hybrid materials and composites. Case studies from general and aerospace engineering.


Qualifications

Applicant Qualifications

 

A minimum of a Doctoral degree in discipline is required (please see list of acceptable disciplines below), as well as relevant industry experience from within the last 7 years.

 

Applicable Professional Certification

 

Achievement of professional certification such as Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Materials Professional (Australia), or other applicable discipline-specific professional certifications.

 

Desired Professional Training or Experience

 

Active membership in professional organizations in engineering, i.e., National Academy of Engineering, National Society of Professional Engineers, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, or other organizations in fields related to aerospace structures and materials. Active membership in professional organizations in materials science, e.g.: The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society, Materials Research Society, American Chemical Society, or other organizations in fields related to development and application of materials for aerospace structures.
