ADJUNCT FACULTY – MUSIC, PART-TIME

Truman College is currently seeking a part-time faculty to teach Music during the Summer and Fall 2024 semester. Applicants who have experience working with diverse student population and can create an inclusive climate are ideal for this position. If you have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that engage the students in critical thinking and problem-solving, you are encouraged to apply for this position.

The ideal candidate will teach Music 124 – Trends in American Music. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

·         You must demonstrate excellence in teaching, commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process and the ability to inspire, motivate and empower students to succeed.

·         Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.

·         You are required to post your syllabi on Bright Space, return all graded assessments to the students promptly and to enter your midterm and final grades online on time.

·         Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies. Encourage students with research possibilities.

·         Maintain office hours so you are available to the students outside classroom hours and meet with other faculty members and department chair when necessary.

·         Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Master's Degree in Music, Music Performance or Musicology.

·         Knowledge of a Brightspace and Zoom preferred.

·         Online teaching experience required.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse group of students and staff required.

·         Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
