Online Courses

The successful candidate for this position will serve as a clinical supervisor to the credential candidate. They will help the candidate acclimate to the site, collaborate with the Cooperating/Mentor Teacher, and use the formative and summative assessment forms to assess and guide the student’s growth utilizing GoReact for remote observations. This position also requires ongoing communication with the student and Cooperating/Mentor Teacher, as well as the review of the lesson and unit plans designed by UMass Global credential students.

Required Previous Experience

· Must hold a California Teaching Credential in the content area they are supervising

· Master’s degree in education or related field from a regionally accredited institution

· Extensive and recent teaching experience

· Experience at the university level supervising credential candidates

· Recent professional experience in school settings where curriculum aligns with California's adopted content standards

· Frameworks, knowledge, skills, and experience mentoring and supervising teachers or credential candidates.

· Knowledge of Common Core and state standards and instructional practices that support student learning including effective strategies for working with English learners and students with special needs

· Communication and interpersonal skills that nurture and empower teachers

· Ability to work with databases

· Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office software

Responsibility to Candidates

· Needs to commit to spending time with the candidate to promote quality experiences

· Available for scheduled meetings virtually to meet with candidates, the Clinical Coordinator (CC), other School of Education support team members, and professional development presented by the Director of Clinical Services.

· Contain a strong grasp of technology in a virtual observation assessment process

· Available to assist candidates using video assessment software GoReact, where learners can demonstrate skills online and where supervisors can create collaborative video assignments and give personalized feedback.

Contracts are 16 weeks (1 week designated for prep, 14 weeks of instruction, 1 week for processing final grades).
