Description of Work Unit | The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures is comprised of teachers and scholars of language, linguistics, literature and culture including specialists of second language acquisition, poetry, theater, cinema, and translation. Faculty represent over twenty different countries of origin. This work unit exists to educate, counsel, and support the undergraduate and graduate students in the department, maintain their records, and support the teaching, research and creative activity, and service of its faculty. |

Position Summary | When a position becomes available, the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures hires adjunct faculty from this applicant pool. Such faculty may be hired for the fall, spring, and/or summer term in a given academic year. They are hired to teach courses in language acquisition, linguistics, literature and culture in one or more of the following languages: American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. Applicants are added to the pool list throughout the calendar year. Hiring decisions are typically made during the late spring and early summer for fall semester, during the early fall semester for spring and during the spring semester for the summer term. |
