Job Description

The Department of Life Sciences, in the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks applications from qualified candidates for a part-time non-tenure track position in biology specializing in any of the following areas of biology: Biostatistics with experience with the R statistical package, Organismal (both vertebrates and invertebrates), and Ecology. In addition to courses in these specialization areas, courses may include General Biology I & II (cellular/molecular and organismal/ecological, respectively) for majors and Life Sciences I & II for non-majors. Courses may be lecture-based and/or laboratory-based. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining a safe environment for instruction and learning in a laboratory setting. This is a temporary, non-tenure-track, part-time position requiring teaching responsibilities.

Required Education and Experience:  

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in BIOL or a related field (ABDs will be considered for this position).

  • Must have 18 graduate credit hours in a related area.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Previous college-level or AP Biology teaching experience.

  • Experience with a diverse student body.

  • Must have 18 graduate credit hours in a related area

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong self-discipline and ability to work independently.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
