Job Description Summary

The College of Business and Graduate School of Management at Lewis University seeks to establish a pool of potential graduate adjunct instructors on an ongoing basis to serve as dynamic and student centered educators in service of the following academic graduate programs: Business Administration (MBA); Business Analytics (MSBA); Finance (MSF); Project Management (MSPM); and Organizational Leadership (MAOL).  https://www.lewisu.edu/academics/cob/index.htm

Focused on experiential learning, and active engagement, adjuncts chosen to teach at Lewis will create a charismatic and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.

Adjunct faculty report to their respective department chair and/or the dean and performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the University. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.

Responsibilities

Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University’s Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

-Teach their course(s) either at the Romeoville (Main), Oak Brook and/or Albuquerque campuses;
-Availability to teach during the weekday or evening or online;
-Prepare course materials, syllabus(ai) and update Blackboard course shells (LMS platform);
-Participate in required University and College activities, trainings and certifications;
-Provide support and guidance to students.
-Cooperate with department chairs or other program faculty to assure quality and consistency across the program

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate faculty must hold a doctoral degree in the same discipline or subfield. For example, Economics courses requires a PhD in Economics as the minimum requirement or MBA courses requires a PhD or DBA as the minimum requirement or Organizational Leadership courses requires a Doctorate in Leadership. It is preferred that applicants, in certain fields, possess professional licensures, e.g. CFA, CPA, PMI etc.

If the doctoral degree is not in the same discipline or subfield of the course being taught, the adjunct faculty member must have at least 18 additional hours of graduate credit in the discipline or subfield which is one level above the course being taught.
-Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
-All hired adjunct faculty must successfully complete the Lewis University Online Teaching Certification Program.
-Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to be flexible in class scheduling.

Physical Demands:
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Preferred Qualifications

-Candidates are preferred to have a minimum of fifteen years in mid to senior management positions, whereas their professional experiences demonstrate mastery of the subject matter discipline in the classroom.
-Candidates are preferred to provide evidence of prior quality teaching and/or training experiences.
-Experience with Blackboard and hybrid delivery, not required, but desirable.

Essential Duties
Work hours

Part-time; adjunct positions at Lewis University are teaching positions and may instruct one or two courses each semester on an “as needed” basis. This posting may or may not result in the hiring of adjuncts. Adjunct Faculty provide a quality learning experience for students on a semester basis.
