Required Degree: BA in Finance or related field; MBA or Ph.D. preferred. The required degree must be completed by the start date.

 

Experience:

Evidence of associated work experience; prefer evidence of successful teaching of Finance at collegiate level or equivalent professional experience related to content covered in the class.

 

Position Overview:

Brigham Young University Marriott School of Business is seeking an adjunct faculty to join our team as an advisor for Brigham Capital. Brigham Capital is a student-led, actively managed public equity fund whose primary purpose is to teach students about investment principles. This position is designed for professionals with a deep understanding of public equity investing who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise with the next generation of investors. The ideal candidate will facilitate learning by contributing to discussions on investment strategies, offering insights into the career paths within the public equity sector and mentoring student leaders.

 

Duties/Expectations:

  • Facilitate Learning: Engage with students during class lectures by answering questions and providing expert insights into the nuances of public equity investments.
  • Mentorship: Conduct weekly meetings with student leaders to discuss class dynamics, offering guidance on investment strategies and processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the student leaders to ensure a cohesive learning experience, chiming in during class discussions with professional insights where appropriate.
  • Advisory Role: Advise on investment pitches by asking questions that encourage critical thinking and deeper understanding among students but do not sway the class one way or another.
  • Career Guidance: Share experiences and advice about building a successful career in public equity investing, including discussing the challenges and opportunities in the field.
  • Do Not Lead Classes: The Adjunct Professor is not expected to assume the primary teaching responsibilities but should contribute meaningfully to the learning environment.
  • Do Not Influence Investment Decisions: While providing guidance on the process and strategies, the Adjunct Professor should maintain a neutral stance on specific investment decisions made by students.
  • Do Not Manage Student Projects: Oversight of student projects is outside the scope of this role; however, providing feedback and insights is encouraged.

Must reside in the State of Utah to be eligible for employment consideration.

Must be willing to teach the course(s) in person, on campus.
