Job Description

Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process.  Adjunct instructors are hired to teach on a temporary and part-time basis. Adjunct instructors teaching courses for credit must meet the same requirements for professional and scholarly preparation as their full-time counterparts teaching in the same discipline.

Responsibilities:

  • 100% - Teaches an upper-level undergraduate course on Asian literature in English translation. The course can focus on Asian literature, broadly conceived, or specific places or sites of Asian literature. Perspective faculty should address briefly in their cover letter their preparations and motivations to teach this course. Writes syllabi for the courses to be taught using the approved format of the College of Arts and Sciences.  Meets with students enrolled in their classes when students need additional assistance with class material and assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in English and undergraduate teaching experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in teaching in English courses

  • Show expertise in and commitment to undergraduate English education.

  • Exhibit enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and employing innovative teaching methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in English or related field

  • Specialization in Asian Literature
