Job Description

University College (UC) is seeking qualified part-time adjunct instructors to teach developmental mathematic undergraduate courses. The instructor will follow the syllabus guideline, complete professional development trainings in a timely manner, advice and assist students on essential academic concerns, report necessary assessment data to the dean, maintain office hours, and participate in meetings, events, and activities. Teaching assignments may include day, night, or weekend classes. 

Education and Experience:

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or related field.
  • Experience with teaching, tutoring, or advising college students, especially freshmen students.
  • Possess exemplary interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for encouraging students’ success.
  • Evidence of impacting student’s learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Mathematics or related field.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching college transition courses for freshmen.
  • Experience with engaging freshmen during their first year in college.
  • Familiarity with Blackboard.
  • Familiarity with online instruction and delivery.
  • QM Certified.

  • Ability to communicate, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact cooperatively, collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with others and the general public.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to establish a community of learners.
  • Knowledge of effective classroom teaching, including the use of technology as a teaching tool.
  • Strong interest in students’ success.
  • Maintain currency in teaching/learning.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Other information:

  • The above job duties may not be performed in every Adjunct Faculty position and might not include all related duties that may be performed.
  • Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester and on an as-needed basis.
  • These temporary appointments are for the Fall 2022 semester and/or any applicable Fall 2022 sub-terms.
