JOB SUMMARY:

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Adelphi University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions, starting in Summer 2024. Adjunct faculty positions are not on tenure track. Positions may be renewed on a semester-by-semester basis, at the discretion of the hiring department.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to teach in-person courses in our undergraduate Bachelor of Computer Science program and/or in our graduate Master of Computer Science program. Additional online asynchronous courses may also be assigned.

 

We are seeking candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching students from diverse cultural backgrounds and who have experience with a variety of teaching methods and modalities.

 

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary for this position is $1,732 per credit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Adjunct professors teach in-person classes on the Garden City campus and may be offered online asynchronous classes as well.

2.    Teaching opportunities at our Manhattan Center might also be introduced in the near future.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.    Candidates must be legally allowed to work in the United States.

2.    Candidates must hold at least a Master's degree.

3.    Candidates with a degree in computer science or closely related discipline, will receive preferential consideration.

4.    Candidates in a non-computing field of study, but with relevant prior experience will also be considered.

5.    Candidates with a terminal degree are preferred, but candidates who have completed sufficiently advanced graduate coursework will be considered as well.

6.    Familiarity with our [graduate](https://www.adelphi.edu/program/graduate/computer-science/ ) and [undergraduate](https://www.adelphi.edu/program/undergraduate/computer-science/ ) departmental curricular initiatives in computer science is strongly preferred.
