Job Description

The International Pathway Program of the Office of International Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for part-time English as a Second Language (ESL) adjunct faculty positions in the following areas: 

  • Grammar

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • Recitation

  • U.S. Culture

The International Pathway Program of the Office of International Education prepares and delivers competency-based ESL instruction to equip adult students with language and cultural proficiencies so that they may participate fully in American society, and to be ready to transition to college and career.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a learning environment that enhance the development of English language fluency and self-esteem of learners. Integrate language acquisition within the context of college & career readiness.

  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage students and enhance their language skills (students are tested and place in academic levels).

  • Develop students’ receptive English-language skills of listening and reading comprehension, and their productive English-language skills of speaking and writing.

  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students.

  • Apply standards (including College and Career Readiness Standards, ESL Model Standards) for assessing the major accomplishments of students.

  • Facilitate student use of technology and blended learning.

  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning and development.

  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promote cultural understanding and appreciation.

Required Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in a related discipline and a TESOL Certificate.

  • Knowledge of library services and resources for language learners

  • Familiarity with education administration and policies related to English language instruction

  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed in their language development journey.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability developing and presenting lessons that include a variety of innovative communicative activities are essential.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to facilitate blended learning.
