Job Summary

The Health Services Administration Department within the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP)* of Drexel University is accepting applications for adjunct instructors with expertise in healthcare ethics.  The area of specialty is open. Specific areas of focus include clinical ethics and ethics in healthcare management. Areas of specialty include research ethics, reproductive ethics, health humanities and social determinants of health.  Selected candidates will join a pool of adjunct faculty who will serve on an ad hoc basis to teach classes in-person (day or evening), online, or in hybrid format.  Adjunct instructors are hired on a term-by-term basis.

The Health Services Administration Department within the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP)* offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees in health services administration. Students in the ethics courses come from programs throughout the University, and are largely studying for careers involving health or healthcare. Courses are delivered in-person, online, or in hybrid format.  

*The College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP) has more than a century long history of educating nurses and health professionals. Since 2002, the College has embraced the practical ingenuity of Drexel through the refinement and development of more than 25 undergraduate and graduate nursing and health professions programs characterized by the integration of learning and work through cooperative education, a culture of excellence, innovation and technology infusion, research and deep civic engagement. The College has grown to include more than 5,000 students, 200 full-time faculty and 104 staff.  

Essential Functions

  • Implement the mission of Drexel University, CNHP, and the Health Services Administration Department
  • Deliver 10-week courses in online, in-person, or hybrid format
  • Collaborate with lead faculty to implement and evaluate assigned course
  • Maintain open communication with students, lead faculty, and other university or department representatives
  • Comply with university and departmental policies and practices 

Required Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in a related field is required, doctoral degree preferred
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated content expertise
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students and faculty
  • Sufficient technical skills to manage an online course delivery system, electronic communication, and internet research
  • PA State Police criminal background clearance, and FBI fingerprinting clearance
