Job Summary/Basic Function:
Adjunct Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on an as needed basis. These positions are filled prior to or during each semester and are contingent upon the needs of the College.
Brazosport College accepts application materials for pool positions on a continuing basis throughout the year from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis.
Academic departments will contact potential applicants when there are available openings.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Reports to the Division Chair of Social Sciences and Business

  • Teaches Criminal Justice classes using traditional and alternative delivery methods

College benefits do not accrue with this part-time position.
Physical Demands:
Standing, sitting, walking, carrying, handling, fine dexterity, vision, hearing, talking; ability to drive to off campus locations;
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited college

  • Must be eligible to obtain the instructor’s certification from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE)

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Texas peace officer; Interest in alternative instructional delivery methods

  • Other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one’s value to the institution

  • Exceptional employment or educational qualifications may be given special consideration as long as Southern Association (SACS) minimum educational credentials are met
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice

  • Teaching experience in an Criminal Justice program at the community college level will be a plus

  • Bilingual language skills preferred
