Definition of Class

This position provides assistance to the Office of Equal Opportunity and Regulatory Compliance (EORC) to ensure compliance with Equal Opportunity laws and regulations with a focus on equal employment and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  In that role, the Compliance Specialist (ADA Specialist /EORC Investigator) will be responsible for conducting investigations, providing employee ADA accommodations, and administering relative training.


Examples of Work Performed

•    Monitors and evaluates institutional practices to ensure compliance with federal and state laws applicable to the EORC area of responsibility
•    Conducts ADA and EORC training and other training as needed
•    Presents, evaluates and modifies training content to reflect any relevant regulatory changes to ensure effectiveness
•    Conducts investigations, summarizes evidence, and drafts reports
•    Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal law as well as University policies
•    Assists in updating EORC policies, with a focus on ADA and equal employment
•    Ensures notification is made to relevant stakeholders and assists in determining if a recommendation of interim measures is necessary
•    Drafts summary documents and shares with appropriate parties such as the Provost and General Counsel
•    Ensures office confidentiality is maintained
•    Performs similar or related duties assigned or required


Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Monitors and audits compliance correspondence, records, and forms related to EORC. 

2. Provides guidance concerning the application of various statutes and policies to campus programs related to EORC with a focus on equal employment and the ADA.

3. Assists with developing effective education programs and training

4. Prepares and maintains compliance records and reports, which include conducting investigations, summarizing evidence, and drafting reports. 


Minimum Education/Experience

Education:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

                                                AND

Experience:

One (1) year experience related to the above described duties.

Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
