: 

The University of Houston Libraries seeks an experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking librarian for the role of Acquisitions Coordinator. Reporting to the Head of Acquisitions and Resource Sharing, the person in this position will coordinate resource acquisition for libraries on the University of Houston main campus. Responsibilities include assessing and implementing strategies for providing resource access, in partnership with colleagues in special libraries and across the various functional areas of the organization. The person in this position will evaluate and update acquisitions workflows, in alignment with cross-departmental workflows, to optimize usage of acquisitions applications. Additional responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial reports and identifying spending patterns to inform strategic expenditures and responsible stewardship of Libraries collection funds. The successful candidate also will create and maintain effective documentation, contribute to departmental leadership, and assist with succession planning. This role supervises acquisitions ordering and receiving staff, which involves coaching and providing support for effective goal setting and achievement.
The Acquisitions Coordinator is a librarian position. Librarians hold academic rank pursuant to the University of Houston Libraries’ Bylaws Document. They are expected to develop a record of service, scholarship, and professional involvement. The UH Libraries support the ongoing professional development of librarians, and our goal is to recruit librarians committed to continuous learning.
Salary: $68,000 to $70,000 expected hiring range, depending on qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package; choice of retirement programs including TIAA; tax-deferred annuity program available; release time to take a class up to 3 hours/week; no state or local income tax.

Qualifications

: 

Required:

  • Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program 
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively in a complex changing environment 
  • Experience working with the acquisitions module of an integrated library system such as Alma or Voyager
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective vendor relationships
  • Familiarity with managing a budget

Preferred:

  • Experience working in one or more library collections-related functional areas, such as acquisitions, cataloging/metadata, collection development, serials, or e-resources
  • Experience in a supervisory or professional leadership role
