Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Accounts Payable Manager, the incumbent provides direction and supervision to a section of the Accounts Payable department. The incumbent will plan, coordinate, and monitor Accounts Payable activities to maintain an appropriate level of service for daily AP operations with adherence to GAAP standards. The incumbent will work to improve Accounts Payable processes both internally for the department and externally for campus stake holders.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a section of the Accounts Payable department operations unit to insure the timely and accurate processing of Accounts Payable documents.
  • Oversight of the back end administrative control processes and expense reporting functions for the campus Procurement Card and One Card programs.
  • Improve campus processes, procedures, and forms as they relate to accounts payable operations.
  • Complete and maintain Accounts Payable business process documentation, identify internal process improvements, tracking and reporting departmental performance metrics, system problem solving.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and to be accountable for own work results for effective and timely completion of work assignments. Ability to review financial documents for accuracy, completeness, validity, and adherence to standards. Establish and maintain effective working relationship with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Analyze and interpret accounting and statistical data. Compile, verify and reconcile financial data. Experience with large financial suite (i.e. Lawson, JD Edwards, SAP, PeopleSoft or Oracle) preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required. Ability to effectively work in an ethnically and culturally diverse environment and the ability to foster cooperation between peers and co-workers.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of related experience required. Experience in a high-volume accounts payable department, using integrated financial package or suite preferred. Three years of prior supervisory experience preferred.

Compensation

The targeted salary may be set as high as $6,667 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $4,693 to $8,489 per month.
