Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of the department is to provide basic and applied genetic/genomic research, education, and training at the interface between biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, mathematics, the social sciences, public health and medicine in order to have a profound effect on how medicine will be practiced in the future. 
Our graduate programs train students to be creative, sophisticated research scientists prepared to pursue careers focused on genetics and genomics working in academic science, government, or commercial positions. Students conduct their dissertation research using diverse experimental approaches – from classical genetics to the most modern molecular methods – to address a broad range of contemporary problems in biomedical science.
The Department also includes a clinical arm focused on medical genetics, which covers the broad spectrum of clinical genetic research from disease prevention to diagnosis and treatment. This specialty includes evaluation, mutation discovery, counseling and risk assessment through analysis and genetic testing. Locating the clinical group alongside basic scientists facilitates integration of cutting-edge genetic research with patient care.
Position Summary
THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 2 YEARS.
This position primarily maintains, oversee, and reports financial accounting data. This position also serves as specialist in fiscal knowledge, such as, payroll, contract/grants, and related accounting services. Technical accounting work includes independent responsibility for maintaining accounting records. This positions responsibility is to analyze data for accuracy, to problem-solve, and to interpret regulations as well as reverses errors. They are accountable for accuracy of entries and reconciliation of data and information. They coordinate and make recommendations for system changes and test new processes.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Excellent public contact, administrative and office management skills are required, as is the ability to independently and to prioritize work assignments and projects. Excellent judgment, analytical and verbal communication skills are necessary for successful performance of the position’s duties and responsibilities. Knowledge of accepted accounting budgeting, and related financial forecasting skills are helpful. Working knowledge of the department’s function, organization structure, division of responsibility and staffing. Ability to research, extrapolate, and interpret information from a variety of sources. Through familiarity with and skill in using personal computer equipment, printers, a variety of work processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to adapt effectively to change and manage multiple priorities concurrently.
