Accounting Specialist
Job Description
The College of Health Solutions team is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their Business Services team. This position will perform a wide variety of business operations functions, including but not limited to, customer services inquiries, purchasing, accounting, and other duties as assigned. This position will report to the Financial Manager in CHS Finance.

Essential Duties
As an Accounting Specialist on the Finance team in Business Services, this position will:
- Initiate a variety of business, financial, and operations requests including, but not limited to: department level travel, financial transactions, accounts receivable, payroll/timekeeping, purchasing of goods or services, and employee reimbursements within budgetary guidelines.
- May assist in review of PCard Verifications and approvals in the Financial Management System.
- Monitor shared emails inbox and reply customer service inquiries as appropriate.
- Manage and route electronic forms.
- Remain current regarding all policies, practices, methods, standards, regulations and requirements affecting the business and operational activities to ensure ongoing compliance; attend training sessions as required by university policy and as needed to stay current.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field AND one (1) year of related experience; OR,Three (3) years related accounting experience; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a higher education setting, preferably ASU.
- Experience with ASU systems including Workday, PeopleSoft, and Concur.
- Experience working with Excel to produce reports and manipulate data.
- Prior experience to work effectively in an environment subject to tight deadlines and regular exposure to process and time related stress.
- Knowledge of the principles of exemplary customer services demonstrated through actively listening, acknowledging, and responding to every inquiry; taking ownership and resolving each concern or problem as appropriate; exhibiting professionalism and expertise in every interaction and engaging in professional development to meet expectations for service excellence.
Working Environment
- Use basic math.
- Handle petty cash.
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting.
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
- Use office equipment, i.e. printers, copiers, fax machines, telephones, calculator.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, may include/subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Use of software/computer equipment for extended periods of time.
- Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze and report data/results of tests conducted.
