Accounting Specialist


Job Description

Financial Services seeks an Accounting Specialist to perform accounting and customer service functions requiring initiative and independent judgement in support of the goals and objectives of Financial Services. This position is part of the ASU Payables and Reimbursements department.

The successful candidate, not presently employed with Financial Services, will be paid a signing bonus of $750.00, and a $1,250.00 bonus after completing six months of employment with the department.

Essential Duties

  • Respond to inquiries via email and phone in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare recurring reports.
  • Provide customer service duties to aid departments and suppliers. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Audit invoices and expense reimbursements to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Efficiently process invoices and expense reimbursements through ASU’s financial management system.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field AND one (1) year of related experience; OR,Three (3) years related accounting experience; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Accounts Payable. 
  • Experience in using Workday. 
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service.
  • Evidence of effective communications skills. 
  • Experience using Adobe and standard Microsoft applications; Excel, Word and Outlook.

Working Environment

  • Work in an office setting and use office equipment (i.e. computers, printers, copiers, calculators, telephones).
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Read-interpret written and oral instructions/directions. 
  • May require lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
