Overview of Accounting Clerk

Purdue University Northwest is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join the Managerial Accounting Team.  The Accounting Clerk is responsible for fiscal approvals as well as ensuring internal controls are met.  They work closely with their assigned department staff to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and guidelines of the University. 
The Accounting Clerk position offers great flexibility by providing you with a hybrid work environment.  You can enjoy working both from home and in the office.

Pay

  • up to $16.83
     

Schedule

  • Flexible 8 hour day shift between 7:00am-5:00pm

Duties and Responsibilities of Accounting Clerk
  • Interpret, communicate and implement university financial management polices and procedures, internal controls, state and federal guidelines for all accounts assigned
  • Work with internal customers to ensure payments are processed in a timely fashion and in accordance with University policies.  Provide training and guidance regarding fiscal processes and keep them informed of any new changes
  • Collaborate with Grant Management Office regarding fiscal approval for grant funded items
  • Audit and approval direct invoice vouchers
  • Prepare journal vouchers for corrections and record charges/transfer requests as needed
  • Review accounts and coordinate resolution of overdrafts and other problems
  • Interpret, communicate and implement university procurement guidelines
  • Audit and approve transactions
  • Credit card reconciliations

Experience of Accounting Clerk
  • One year of accounting or financial experience required
  • Experience in higher education is preferred

Education of Accounting Clerk
  • High school diploma/GED
