Position Summary

The Department of Teacher Education in the College of Education is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our team! This position supports the Research Administrator II/S and the department Business Operations Manager & Budget Officer positions with financial transactions and account management. Process requests and expense reports for travel related to research accounts in the department. Attend classes necessary for maintaining certifications, fulfilling job duties and enhancement of work environment. Provide main office coverage as needed. Support coworkers with duties as needed. 


Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in accounting, bookkeeping, records maintenance and/or experience in spreadsheet, word processing, and/or database software. The job may require knowledge of technical or medical terminology and/or technical training related to the field of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. Skilled in communications, with experience in MSU processes; Proficiency in Office365, Adobe Acrobat; Experience with TEAMS, Sharepoint, Zoom; Experience working in academic environments, supporting university administrators, and problem-solving. Ability to multitask, take initiative, set priorities and meet deadlines. Adapts to change; works collaboratively and as part of a team. Experience handling confidential information; Demonstrated experience advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace; Engages in continuous learning for self-improvement.
