Job Summary
Provides transactional level support and knowledge of University policies and procedures pertaining to travel, reimbursements, and purchasing.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews reimbursement requests to ensure the completeness of information, availability of funds, appropriateness of transaction, and conformity to policies as required for types of funds and processes the expense report in Chrome River on the traveler's behalf
  • Assists with the purchase of qualified travel expenses (airfare, conference registration, hotel reservations, etc.) using the Travel Card. Performs all required functions in Chrome River
  • Assists with monthly financial statement preparation and distribution
  • Serves as point of contact for faculty, staff, and students for travel and reimbursement matters for the School of Integrative Biology, which includes three departments and affiliated programs
  • Serves as primary backup to purchasing position
  • Assists with record information management
  • Prepares student payments in DAWS and routes for approvals. Prepares carpool reservations for non-course related travel. Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail. Assists with processing various check deposits received. Greets office visitors and directs them to the appropriate staff member. Other duties as assigned to further the mission of the unit

Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the categories below:
A. Course work in accounting, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: -6 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
B. Course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: -30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
C. Work experience in bookkeeping, office support, or closely related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in applying accounting principles and practices
Spreadsheet and database software experience in a business environment

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3851 - Accounting Assistant position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. This is a bargained position and as such, the salary is driven by the collective bargaining agreement. The entry-level salary for the Accounting Assistant classification is $19.772/hour. The employee hired into this position will be expected to work onsite on a full-time basis. Sponsorship for Work Authorization is not available for this position.
