The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Accounting Assistant III, UNLV Student Life - Business Services - Support [R0135655]
ROLE of the POSITION
The major responsibilities of this position will be cash management, billback specialist and handling journal vouchers. This position will also assist with accounts payable, receivable, general ledger maintenance as needed for Student Life.
Cash management - Responsible for collecting cash deposits from Student Union Info Desk and Campus Recreation Services and another department. Responsible for preparing departmental deposit transmittal forms, cash reconciliations, bank deposits, and maintaining all documents in a safe and secure manner. Drop cash deposit to the Cashier's Office daily. Reconcile credit card sales daily. Investigate any discrepancies and follow all policies and procedures. Also, track all deposits and audit sheets.
Journal Entry - Review the IDR and invoices, ensure the accuracy of the account number, spend category code, activity code, detail code and amount. Enter all Student Union Event Services (SUES) billing journals into Workday. Maintain & track the journal voucher folder on a daily basis.
Billback specialist - Collect all utility invoices and place into the appropriate folders in the share drive. Create and send out monthly billing invoices for external customers. Track all invoice numbers and amounts billed. Once customer payment is received, create Departmental Deposit Transmittal (DDT) for Account Managers to enter into Workday
Administrative Responsibility - Assist in various administrative duties, i.e. order supplies, booking meeting reservations, taking & sending out meeting minutes, assisting with departmental reports including "Snap", updating office information and calendar.
All Other Duties as Assigned - Attend team meetings and retreats. Attend mandatory and voluntary training. Volunteer for Student Life events. Assist Account Managers as needed.
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial to data prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Grade 27 Step 1, salary 37,166.40. "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
