Job Overview

The Accounting Analyst is the dedicated liaison between the Office of Advancement and main campus’s General Accounting Office to ensure University compliance to accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations. They act as the in-house specialist on related accounting pronouncements including, but not limited to, FASB 116, 117, & 124.

As well, they partner with GAO to reconcile Advancement’s bank accounts, balance sheet related accounts, contribution accounts, and the reporting of contributions received by the University; and ensure the sub-ledger agrees to the general ledger, as well as other management reporting.

Work Interactions

Reporting  to the Director of Gift Accounting, the Accounting Analyst participates in brainstorming, reviewing, and resolving concerns and problems related to the recording, reconciling and reporting of gift activity.

They also interact with fiscal officers and other financial and administrative managers in resolving gift transaction activities and problems; and have considerable interactions with the General Accounting Office, as well as internal and external auditors.

This position has been designated as Telework. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Up to 2 years of progressive experience in accounting environment required- preference for with direct non-profit experience and experience in the reconciliation of complex accounts
  • Strong writing skills and effective oral communications skills
  • Strict compliance with confidentiality requirements
  • Attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word

Preferred requirements and qualifications

  • 2+ years direct experience in the reconciliation of complex accounts and charitable donations
  • Progress towards a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar certification

The expected pay range for this position is $47,586 to $67,000 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity and external market pay for comparable jobs.
